Meet Suzie
Every Trail Starts Somewhere
Health isn’t just something I teach. It’s something I’ve lived—every day, every meal, every step.
I’m Suzie Chaney, and my trail began with backyard chickens, homegrown vegetables, and a mom who turned healthy eating into a game. What started as a family value became a lifelong mission: to help others walk the path to vibrant living.
Health wasn’t something we talked about. It was something we lived. Those early lessons didn’t just change how I looked—they shaped how I lived. And they planted the first seeds of the purpose I’d discover years later.
The First Step: A Little Girl, A Big Shift
Before I became the vibrant woman I am today, I was a young girl who needed supplemental oxygen due to a heart murmur. That experience stayed with me. It gave me a deep awareness of my body—and a deep desire to strengthen it.
When I was 9 years old, I saw a picture of myself—and I didn’t like what I saw. I was a pudgy little girl, and I remember telling my mom, ‘I don’t want to look like that.’
She didn’t shame me. She didn’t scold me. She helped me.
Together, we created a lifestyle I could actually stick to, even as a kid. We made healthy food fun. We reinvented recipes. We ate fruit for dessert. We used herbs instead of salt. Over time, I lost my sweet tooth and gained a taste for life.
That early experience shaped me.
Wellness wasn’t punishment. It was joy, creativity, and empowerment.
It was also the beginning of a deeper journey I didn’t yet understand—one that would take decades to unfold.
From Passion to Purpose
The Trail to Purpose
As a young adult, I remember wondering to myself: Why am I even here on Earth? What’s my purpose?
It wasn’t an easy answer. In fact, it took me more than a year of soul-searching. But when the answer finally came, it rang like a bell:
“I was put on this Earth to inspire others to take good care of their health.”
That realization lit something in me. I became a certified health coach. I started my own nutrition consulting business. And most importantly, I started helping people transform.
I watched clients get off medications. I saw energy come back. I saw bones strengthen. (Yes—I’m known for reversing osteopenia with weight-bearing exercise. No meds.)
I help people get off meds, get moving, and get their life back.
It was real. It was powerful. It was purpose in motion.
Rooted in Nature, Powered by Love
Life is better when I cooperate with nature. My core philosophy is simple:
“If it’s grown on a plant, eat it. If it’s made in a plant, don’t.”
My parents modeled this lifestyle long before I had words for it. My mom cooked everything from scratch with love and wisdom. My dad’s garden was our grocery store. We were never taught to “be healthy”—we just were.
I believe in moving your body with joy. In eating food that loves you back. In surrounding yourself with people and practices that lift you up. Wellness isn’t about perfection. It’s about feeling alive.
“You can enjoy life longer when your health span equals your life span.”
Let’s Walk Together
Whether you’re looking to get your health back, deepen your energy, or explore a heart-led career in wellness, I’m here to walk beside you.
I know how confusing the world of wellness can feel these days. There’s so much noise, so many trends, and so many conflicting claims. My role is to help you quiet the static and find a path that feels grounded, true, and sustainable for you.
Not to sell you something. To walk with you.
“Wellness is a journey, not a prescription. And no one should walk it alone.”
Let’s take that first step together.

Walking Beside Me
Meet Steve, My Companion on the Trail
My husband Steve has walked this path with me for decades. He’s not just my biggest supporter—he’s also a retired professor with a deep well of knowledge in health and nutrition.
He spent over forty years teaching Nutrition and Human Metabolism at the UNC Medical School, where he’s now Professor Emeritus. He’s published more than 100 scientific papers, written two books (Slaying the Food Myths and Slaying the Supplement Myths), and shares weekly reflections on his blog Health Tips from the Professor.
You’ll see a few of his insights sprinkled into our blog here, too. I’m proud to share this path with him—and even more excited to share his wisdom with you. If you’d like to dive deeper, you can follow along as he shares reflections, research, and practical guidance from decades on the wellness path.
